林書豪1日對外宣布，以3年3600萬美元（約新台幣11億5903萬元）加盟紐澤西籃網隊。
林書豪日前接受訪問時表示，大家總是在強調球隊的文化，也試著樹立起正面的形象，所以他也想在這些地方幫助籃網。
林書豪提到，籃網現在有了嶄新的開始，這一切包括新的經理、教練等等，而他現在最想做的，就是想成為這支「新」球隊的一份子。
對於過去在其他球隊時所經歷的不好回憶，林書豪說，「那已經離我很遠了」，現在他只想專注在個人的成長，和試日式鋼構屋著對球隊做出貢獻。
林書豪說，其實在球季外他不看任何的推文、不看任何的評論、不看任何的文章、也不看任何評論員的講評，所以對於新球季他仍多所期待，下季他期待自己能保持心態正確，並用正確的方式打球，那麼接下來自然會有好的結果。
林書豪認為，人或多或少都有不愉快或低潮的時候，就像他在洛杉磯湖人隊的時光，或是這個球季的季後賽之旅在首輪比賽後就結束一樣，但他至少可以確定自己是用正確的方式在面對、處理這些問題，而這是接下來他要在布魯克林打球的方式。
對於他亞裔美籍的身分，林書豪表示，就亞裔球員的身分來說，沒有人能比來自中國大陸的姚明更具影響力，因為他自己也會透過轉播看姚明的比賽，看著姚明在NBA賽場上的表現，讓他受到許多激勵。
林書豪說，因為姚明的關係，讓他在NBA能夠發展得較為順利，也希望未來的球員在提到亞裔球員的代表時，除了姚明，也還會提到「林書豪」這個名字，也希望未來人們將不再那麼快的否定亞裔球員的能力。1050712
